Cornerstone Conference Archives
Vision Statement: “To collect, preserve and display materials for present and future generations.”
Jack D. Goodson joined the Cornerstone Conference (formerly Western North Carolina) in 1959. He pastored six churches within the bounds of the conference. In 1982 he was elected to serve as Superintendent of the Conference which he did until August of 1985 when he was elected to serve as the General Secretary/Treasurer of the IPHC. After completing his role in Oklahoma City, he returned to the High Point area in 1993. Jack and his wife, Frankie, currently attend the North Pointe P. H. Church. Jack was appointed to serve as the Archives Coordinator in 2006.
Jack is always seeking information that pertains to the Conference. It is his goal to fill in our history since its conception in 1915. He welcomes any information and labeled pictures that document events within our conference and churches.
The Archives Committee members who serve with Jack are as follows: Judy Batts, Cecil Coates, Pearlie Coleman, and Beth McGhee. The committee meets about once a quarter to go through materials and catalogue items of interest. They also help encourage local churches to donate items to place in their individual church files. Together we try to determine the order in which we want to focus on to preserve and enhance our collection.
Many times people ask if an item is of interest to the Archives Department – EVERYTHING IS OF INTEREST – please do not throw away something without asking us first. There are times that we have duplicates, but that is ok. We take the one that is in the best shape and try to preserve it. Any item that is dated and represents a significant event is always of importance for our department.
MATERIAL TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR: Minutes before 1950, early editions of the Co-Worker (Now the Cornerstone Connection), early Discipline and Manual.
