Lydia Terry – India

Email

Lydia Terry was born in Greenville, South Carolina to Rev. Kenneth and Georgia Terry and has one sister, Elizabeth Kerly. While growing up, Lydia feels fortunate to have been sent to a Christian school and continued along that path when making her college choices. She attended Liberty University from 1998 to 1999 and then transferred to Holmes Bible College for 2000-2002. She graduated from Holmes with a Bachelor of Science degree in Theology with a concentration in Missions in May of 2002. She continued her education by attending Greenville Technical College from 2002-2004 where she received an Associates Degree in Health Science with a concentration in paramedic training.

While attending Liberty University, Miss Terry participated in a mission’s trip to El Salvador in 1999. The following summer, she went with a team to Guatemala, this time for a full month. On this trip, which also served as her internship, she worked with a medical team, helped conduct Vacation Bible School, and took part in skits and dramas.

“God has definitely been with me every step of the way,” says Miss Terry. “Throughout my college experience, I knew that missions was my life calling and continued in that direction.” She went for a five-month short-term missionary assignment in India where God continued to confirm and unfold His vision. “God has placed a burden on my heart,” she continues, “for the orphan and street children, and I look forward to a future of working with them and providing them a place to live and learn, so that they too can have an opportunity to grow up in a Christian atmosphere. Every child deserves a chance to live life, to dream a dream, and to experience and learn about God’s love, hope, forgiveness, grace, and mercy.”

Lydia Terry continues to work with the IPHC.   She went back to India for a full 1 ½ year term where she studied the language, built contacts, studied the process and gathered  information pertinent to the work among the street and orphan kids with the children’s  home.  She says, “I am so blessed and grateful to be a part of God’s adventure and journey.  Every step is in faith and trust, knowing God will show me what He has for me to do next.”  Pray that God will continue to direct, lead, and give wisdom to Lydia as she continues walking in faith with God knowing and believing to see His vision come to completion.  Also, be in prayer for God to speak to those who would be willing and faithful to take on and support Lydia in this endeavor by giving her much needed prayer and monthly financial support.
