Prayer Network Newsletter
General Superintendent Doug Beacham and the IPHC Executive Council have called our church to catch the vision of Isaiah 54:2-3: “Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left, and our descendants will inherit the nations, and make the desolate cities inhabited.”
As part of their vision for enlargement, Dr. Beacham and the Executive Council have identified Seven Core Values “that have shaped our calling and that the Spirit is using to further shape our calling.” Below you will find these Core Values as articulated by Bishop Beacham. Would you be willing to make these a part of your daily prayer life this month—and perhaps beyond? You may pray these over our denomination, our conference, our districts, & our local churches.
ON SUNDAY – We Pray . . . To Be People of the Word of God, the Bible. The Bible is God’s Word of life to the world. Through the Bible we discern the voice and actions of God in human history. Through the Bible we learn Who we worship. From the worship of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we learn how to live as citizens of His Kingdom on earth.
ON MONDAY – We Pray . . . To Be Pentecostal People. The Holy Spirit has called the IPHC to be a people who live and walk in the Spirit. We believe all the gifts of the Spirit are operative today. We believe the Holy Spirit empowers the Body of Christ corporately and individually to fulfill the mission of God in the earth.
ON TUESDAY – We Pray . . . To Be Holy People. We know that Holiness is beautiful. God’s church is sanctified by His Word and consecrated to live for His glory. We know that a redeemed, transformed character comes through the disciplines of the Word, prayer, worship, community, and grace. We believe that God calls us to be holy in order to demonstrate to a lost world the glory of His grace, mercy, and love.
ON WEDNESDAY – We Pray . . . That Christ’s Kingdom Expand. We believe that the Kingdom of God is manifest wherever people live under His righteous reign. The IPHC is called to expand the borders of Christ’s kingdom through church planting, missions effort to those who have not heard around the globe, through local congregations serving their communities, and through our lives as we live holy and lovingly day by day.
ON THURSDAY – We Pray . . . That Justice Be Established Through Us. We believe that God’s people are called to be instruments of righteousness in the earth. We stand with the poor, the weak, and the oppressed and offer hope that brings dignity to each person. We stand with those who have no voice and intercede in their behalf. We will not be silent in the face of injustice whatever its source. We believe that justice and compassion extend the borders of Christ’s kingdom.
ON FRIDAY – We Pray . . . That Future Generations Be Affirmed and Empowered. God is at work simultaneously in multiple generations. We honor those who have gone, and are going, before us. We affirm and empower the generations that are following us in the faith. We welcome their voice and presence as prophetic anticipation of the future.
ON SATURDAY – We Pray . . . That We Be a People of Radical Generosity. Our generosity arises from a profound sense of God’s Kingdom. Thus, we understand our resources as gifts of God’s grace and we use them according to God’s standards. We do not live fearfully, based on our lack. We live gratefully based on God’s provision. We understand that all our resources, whether material or spiritual, are gifts from a loving God. We commit ourselves to be obedient as tithers, joyful in giving, and generous in heart. Even as Christ gave to and for us, we give to and for others to the glory of God.
